Planejammer: The Seven Stars

Chapter 1 Part 3: The Outpost

After returning the pages to The Sapphire Mage, and thence to their ship the PCs found it unattended and (seemingly) unmolested. They set sail for The Rock of Bral after many discussions as to what course to lay. …

Once on the Rock they set up two apartments, Drake and Tavist renting one in Upper MidTown (very posh), and a larger central one for the rest in Lower MidTown just down the street from the Illithid Embassy. Deciding to stay put for a bit and marshal their resources they embarked on a number of ventures. Ozzy set up and won a bout in the Arena of Frun fighting Phoebus (A lizardman champion) in a barefisted match, Tavist and Drake set about trying to infiltrate the court and nobility. Drake began to find a market for his paintings of Wildsapce amongst the court.

Consolidation then began in earnest as the group began a concerted effort to raise funds for a better ship. Taking on a job through Gaspar’s Reclamations, they set about retrieving a stolen item for a wandering Priest of Murlynd. Tracing it to Hightown they staged a multiplanar infiltration of the suspected Mage’s home and retrieved the item. They were then approached by the Seekers (of which organization Kaolin, Rand and Drake were now members) who offered to finance the remainder of the cost for an Octopus ship in return for taking an unnamed mission. After accepting they discovered the mission was in the employ of an Illithid named Thought Taker, and was to search for artifacts of “The Elders,” a race which preceded even the ThriKreen and Illithids into Wildspace.

Suffering a near mutiny after the MindFlayer killed a crewman in self defense, they managed to hold it together until entering the Sphere of the Elders. Shortly before reaching their goal an omen was seen in the form of the Seven Stars of Celestian, animated and hovering off the port bow. The Sphere was completely empty except for it’s primary, a Black Hole, and The Outpost (a voidworld once used as a base by the Elders). Discovering many relics of the ancients they were set upon by a space drake while exploring. Thought Taker seized a relic and vanished from the Prime Material Plane leaving them to fight. After destroying the drake and it’s spawn they ransacked they Outpost. Shortly after leaving there was a visible shockwave of Psionic/Magical Energy from the Outpost which gave Rand visions of shattering Crystal Spheres with a awesomely large figure resembling an Illithid looming behind them

Chapter 1 Part 2: I am NOT the Waitress!

Shash’Tuk’s ship, The Revenge (Battle Dolphin) then stopped at the Barre Sinister, where they put the boys off after a few harsh words about fires from the Capt. Meanwhile Kaolin, a Hadozee Priestess of Celestian, and the crew of The Morray (Eelship) were having a few drinks while their Capt. did some discreet business. While she was striking up conversation with the Boys, the Scro her Capt was negotiating with started a brawl by killing her Capt and First Officer. During the ensuing melee she escaped the building with the help of the boys. Knowing that she needed help to run the ship (now owner-less) she and her new found friends (?) took off in the Morray.

During their flight (in a ship of questionable ownership) they stumbled on the asteroid retreat of Duke Sir Dartalon Rix, where some detail of their story upset him to the point of having a heart attack. Shortly after recovering he set off, in a blazing hurry, in a furnace powered Hummingbird ship flying Greatspace colors. As they continued towards God’s Marbles they found an ancient asteroid temple in which they lost the unstable elf in combat.

Summoned by The Sapphire Mage to the Ethereal Plane, they left the Morray tethered to a coin shaped asteroid with a stranded Rock Gnome watching it. They arrived at The Sapphire Mage’s Astral Citadel shortly after a diplomatic party form the City of Chendl (Oerth, Greyspace). The diplomat and entourage were there the reply to the Mage’s offer to purchase the city outright for his mystical experiments. After joining forces with Drake, a priest in the diplomat’s party, they foiled an assassination attempt on The Sapphire Mage and received their instructions for the next phase of the search- The Infinite Stair.

Escorted by the Hound Archon Jazreyel, the group (now including Drake) set off to look for pages of the Tome known to be in the hands of a Planewalker Mage named Oriam Troscalia. Making their way to the Landing of the Planewlker’s Guild they tracked him to an area of the Stair which has recently become dangerous to travel. A Petitioner in raven form named Thorfinn joins the party and teaches the Mages the Ysgardian RuneKeys necessary to make spells work on the Stair in return for assistance in reaching his destination (Bytopia). They reach the “Stair of Desolation,” to find it has been occupied by a Greater Tanaa’ri and it’s minions. After defeating the minions they find the mage they sought on a landing cut off from the Stair and adjoining the Tanaa’ri’s lair. Working in concert they stealthily crept past the Demon and rescued the mage. In return he gladly gave them not only the pages, but some miscellaneous magics and memberships in the Planewalker’s Guild

Chapter 1 Part 1- Garatoch Blues

The planet Garatoch is a world in a hidden sphere which produces large quantities of rare and magical metals and gems from it’s mines. The only landmass is a 120 mile long island volcano in whose caldera the City of Garatoch nestles. It was here that Tavist, Ozzy and Falkirk met. Tavist had just escaped being taken by the law when the ship he was serving on was confiscated for smuggling. The three of them were press-ganged into duty by a mysterious entity. Assigned a mentally unstable elven witch to assist them they were transported through Limbo by the Githzerai to a portal on The Rock of Bral (SpiralSpace).

Having been given bloodstone signet rings, which they were told would indicate those they could trust, they were sent to find a magical book- The Tome of Ever Changing Order. Identifying A lizardman Privateer named Shash’Tuk by his bloodstone ring, they signed on to investigate a reported Illithid ship that was floating derelict in the outer orbital paths of the sphere. This was the last known location of the Tome.

Upon arriving they discovered not one, but two derelicts. A Nautiloid, and a Neogi Mindspider. While investigating the Nautiloid they found a giant undead guarding the Capt’s quarters and no sign of the tome or the crew. As they were leaving, the unstable elf torched the ship. On the Mindspider they discovered again a deserted craft, except for two phase spiders and a surviving prisoner; a human from Oerth named Rand. Psycho boy torched this on as well on the way out.
